Guest post- Sunday is a com'in!

I got this little gem from my brother and wanted to share with you all.

Sunday is a com'in!

It's strange how so many children today can't wait for Christmas time.
The anticipation of waking up Christmas morning and running to the
tree to find the gifts that bear their name.

As a parent, I have to admit, I get into it just as much as my
children do.  It gives me so much joy to see the excitement in my
children and the thrill they have when they receive their gifts.  All
the "thank yous" and hugs and all the "you are the best dad ever".
Ahh that all feels so good.  However, after a few months or even just
a few weeks the excitement of those gifts fade.  Not to mention all
the "thank yous",  hugs and "you are the best dad ever".  The gifts
are either neglected, forgotten about or in some instances sold in
order to get something else.

Why?  Why do these gifts, that were so eagerly opened now sit in the
closet?  Why are these gifts that we begged for now sitting in the
back of the truck being taken to donation centers or sold?

Why? Well, material items fade.  They never sustain our joy, or
satisfaction, our soul.  They just leave us wanting more and more or
something else entirely different to help to fill in the void.

Is that what Christmas was about?  Having to pay for something
temporary?  Getting in debt for something that would never quite
sustain us forever?

Well, that is exactly what Christmas is to so many people.

I want to be able to wake up every morning, not just Christmas
morning, and run to the tree to find the gift that bears my name.  Now
that would be great!  I want my wife, my kids, my family and all the
generations that come to wake up EVERY morning and run to the tree to
find the the true, never ending, sustaining gift that bears all of our
names.
Our real gift was not so much the birth of Christ, but His death and
Resurrection!

My faith leads me to believe that Christ was born.  That He live a
life that I could never live, He paid a price I could never pay, and
He is ALIVE today COVERING my life with HIS.  THAT IS THE BEST GIFT
EVER!

I will never forget a sermon I heard as a young boy growing up about Easter.

The pastor was very animated and descriptive in his sermon.  He was
describing the day that Jesus was being put to death.  I remember him
saying something along these lines.  He said "Its Friday.... Whips
were swinging and striking the body of Jesus",  "Its Friday... A crown
of thorns were being placed on the head of Jesus."  "Its Friday....
Nails were being put into the hands of Jesus", "Its Friday... Jesus
hung his head and died".  The emotion and animation that this pastor
used moved everyone to tears and some even sobbed.  But all of a
sudden everyone started to rejoice, because the pastor said these
simple words.......but Sunday is a com'in!

Today we have our struggles, today we have our heartaches.  But we
have HOPE!   Sunday is a com'n

It is that time a year where we get the opportunity to Recognize and
Celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus.
So when you are coloring those eggs with your children... be sure and
tell them that Jesus covers our sins.  When you give that basket to
your children, tell them what the true gift of Easter is.  When you
are hiding those eggs, be sure and remind yourself that if you seek
you will find.  And when you are feel down and out and think that
there is no way you.... remember "Sunday is a com'in"

Happy Easter!  He is RISEN!

Hosanna

Luke 19: 37-40
As he was drawing near—already on the way down the Mount of Olives—the whole multitude of his disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen, saying, “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”  And some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.” He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.”

Faith

Matthew 21:21-22
And Jesus answered them, "Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, 'Be taken up and thrown into the sea, ' it will happen. And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith."

Patience

 Psalm 37: 7-9

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices! Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil. For the evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the land.
